Why Refer to Austin Periodontal Associates
Written for the general dentist deciding where to send a patient. Short, because you're busy.
The Doctor
Andrew Verrett, DDS, MS, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the certifying board for the specialty recognized by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards. He trained in the U.S. Air Force periodontics residency at Lackland, served six years including as Chief of Periodontics at Elmendorf AFB, and taught periodontics to AEGD residents at Travis AFB. Military practice meant a high, varied surgical volume and the habit of writing reports that the restoring dentist can act on. He owns this practice and is its only doctor. Full bio.
What Your Patient Gets
- A consult within the week, or same day for emergencies.
- An in-office cone-beam CT, reviewed with the patient on screen. If you’ve already taken one, send the DICOM and we won’t repeat it unless needed.
- A written plan and estimate the same day, with the option of taking it back to you before deciding.
- The same doctor at every visit, from consult to final check.
- Moderate IV sedation for most procedures after medical screening, under a Texas State Board of Dental Examiners sedation permit, with full monitoring.
What You Get
- Receipt confirmed the same business day, and a written report after every visit: diagnosis, plan, what was done, radiographs, the maintenance interval, and any alerts (caries, occlusal issues) we noticed. Implant reports include fixture brand, size, platform, lot, insertion torque, healing abutment height, recommended scan body and abutment, and the ready-to-restore date.
- Your restorative plan respected. Implants are planned to the restoration you intend: screw- or cement-retained, provisional plan, esthetic-zone considerations. We place Nobel Biocare implants, so your lab works with one component system; if a case calls for another system, tell us and we’ll discuss it before planning.
- Implants planned on the scan against your restoration, with a surgical guide where the case calls for one, so what you restore is what was planned.
- Alternating maintenance, on a written interval. Your hygiene department keeps the patient; we see them for periodontal maintenance in between at the interval set in the report, and send charting after each of our visits. Periodontal maintenance is coded by whichever office sees the patient.
- A direct line. Ask for Dr. Verrett; he returns doctor calls the same business day.
What We Will Never Do
We do not provide general dentistry, and we do not refer your patients elsewhere for restorative work. A patient who arrives without a general dentist is sent to one, and we’re glad to send them to you. Patients who come to us for a second opinion get a written summary that goes to them and, with their permission, to their treating dentist; we don’t solicit second opinions and we don’t take over another dentist’s plan.
What We’re Honest About
If a tooth can be saved at a reasonable prognosis, we’ll say so and treat it, even when an implant would be the more profitable recommendation. If a full-arch case is a poor bet, we’ll say that too. You’ll never get a report that oversells.
